Personal Work
Personal speculative work inspired by an article featured on BBC Science Focus. I wanted that mystical vibe that fungi seem to exude, but also keep it rooted in science with a conceptual twist. ✏️ (also mocked up as a cover)

“Fungi could be conscious. Here's what that means...
New research on fungi suggests they could be demonstrating some form of intelligence, but not all experts are convinced.”
Personal work depicting a warm afternoon in Kyoto.
Personal work.
The idea behind this piece was looking at our relationships with AI, how that is evolving at such a fast pace and how far that will go in the future?
Will people have relationships with AI? Will AI replace human affection and love? Or is that something that is irreplaceable?

Sir David Attenborough turned 99 on May 8th, 2025!
Here’s a piece i created in honour of the legend himself. I wanted to celebrate the man who has brought nature and the story of our world into our homes. There really is no better narrator for life on earth.
I’ve also included a fun speculative mockup of the illustration as a cover for a documentary :)

I, like most of the world, recently watched Adolescence on Netflix. As a father of 2 boys, this show really resonated with me and opened my eyes to a totally different world to what i experienced when i was growing up. It inspired me to do a piece around the show but also the incel movement which is quite terrifying for a dad.
The show has definitely made me more diligent about screens in my kids lives, which me and my wife already ration out quite strictly. But as my boys grow up i'll be keeping a close eye on them and as always trying to maintain the openness and honesty to speak with us whenever they have doubts or questions.

“First ever 'black hole bomb' created in the lab
A black hole bomb – an idea first proposed in 1969 – has now been realised in the lab as a toy model made from a rotating cylinder and magnetic coils. Studying the bomb could help us better understand real black holes.”

Speculative packaging illustration for BrewDog’s Elvis Juice.
I’ve always loved Brewdog’s brand, clever, cheeky, and full of attitude. So I thought I’d put my own spin on one of their beers. They usually go for clean, graphic, type-led designs, but I wanted to flip the script a bit. I decided on a 1950s Elvis. Mid-dance move, cracking open a cold can of Elvis Juice!
The idea was to capture that iconic Elvis energy and inject a real sense of movement into the label so I thought, why not make the beer itself part of the composition too. I used splashes and torrents of the actual drink to bring the whole piece to life. I kept a nod to the original packaging with the signature colours and some USA-style stripes in the background, not only to add some interest but also a nod to Americana and the King himself

This is a feature about Walter Ferguson, who is considered the father of Costa Rican calypso. He turned 103 this year, and in 2018 the country designated his birthday National Day of Calypso. Over the years he would self-record his music on cassette tape and then give them to tourists and visitors, never saving a copy for himself. A few years ago one of his 11 children started The Walter Ferguson Tape Hunt to track down as many cassettes as they could so they could form a library of his music.
People have traveled from all over the world to return his tapes; so far they’ve rescued 82 of them. Now he’s obviously quite old and frail, but he still sings and people come to meet him and honor him. Kids in Costa Rica learn about him and study his music to better understand their Afro-Caribbean roots.

These pieces accompanied 2 short stories by acclaimed writer Satoshi Ogawa focusing on the upside and downsides to life with AI.
The first focuses on how AI and algorithms dictate and control our lives, fortunes and how we see the world, we unwittingly become puppets to the machine.
The second is how the use of bots and AI in social media could potentially take over all media outlets until you’re unsure who is human and who is not. It is likened to the invasion of Bullfrogs.
